This book is a very thorough study of the roots, history and fruit of the phenomenon of glossolalia, or "tongue speaking". There have been resurgences of theis practice throughout history. It is in no way limited either to the Christian religion of New Testament times. Heathen experience it. "Christian" cults steeped in the deepest die of religious error experience it. A treatmemt of the New Testament text in the orthodox tradition adds weitht, as it always does. to the view that "tongue speaking" has its roots in other than Biblical ground. If God's Word is true, the other is false. They cannot both be true. If God's Word is complete and perfect as a revelation, glossolalia is a phychological phenomenon and it is to be dealt with as a psychological disorder, rather than a religious experience.
